The converter tapping protection device comprises a sliding plate slag stopper (4) and a converter protection sprue (5); an installation though hole used for installing a converter tapping hole (3) is formed in the center of the sliding plate slag stopper (4); two slide ways are arranged on the two sides of the sliding plate slag stopper (4) separately; a sliding plate (511) at the upper end of the converter protection sprue (5) is arranged in the slide ways of the sliding plate slag stopper (4) and can slide in a reciprocating mode along the slide ways; the lower end of the converter protection sprue (5) extends into molten steel (9) of a steel ladle (7); and a through hole with the same diameter as the installation though hole of the sliding plate slag stopper (4) is formed in the sliding plate (511). According to the converter tapping protection device, a closed tapping pipeline is formed between the steel ladle and the converter tapping hole, a conventional exposed tapping mode is changed, and therefore tapping slag-roughing and tapping temperature drop can be effectively reduced, at the same time, molten steel streams can be concentrated, effective stirring of an alloy in the steel ladle can be improved, and in addition, the contact between the molten steel streams and air can be isolated so as to prevent the molten steel from absorbing the air.
