Abstract

The invention discloses a statistical calculation method for detecting publication bias based on arctangent transformation. The method includes the following contents of calculating the estimated value of effect size and variance; performing arctangent transformation on the effect size, replacing the variance with the reciprocal of a sample size to obtain a new variance; and according to the new variance, calculating the standard error of the effect size, and performing weighted linear regression on the effect size and the standard error after the arctangent transformation, wherein the weightis the reciprocal of the sum of the reciprocal of the sample size of a case group and the reciprocal of the sample size of a control group. The method reduces the dependency between the effect size and the variance of the effect size based on stabilizing the size of the effect size. The performance and the applicability to specific research questions are evaluated through a simulation study, and the method is a good alternative method with good performance.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the field of evidence-based medicine, in particular to a statistical calculation method for detecting publication bias based on arctangent transformation. Background technique [0002] Publication bias is one of the threats to the validity of meta-analysis, and it is an inevitable problem in meta-analysis. Publication bias occurs when it is determined that published studies included in a meta-analysis are not representative of all studies that have been conducted. Publication bias occurs unintentionally when researchers do not publish or when journals reject studies with nonsignificant or negative results and when researchers remove nonsignificant findings or data from results. At present, many foreign scholars have explored the method of testing publication bias by using computer simulation methods, while the research on publication bias in my country is relatively backward. There are still many studies that ignore the issue...
