Background technique [0003] Compressors are commonly used to compress various fluids, such as gases. Reciprocating compressors typically include a cylinder having a chamber housing a reciprocating piston and a cylinder head enclosing the cylinder. During the first intake stroke of the piston, negative pressure builds up in the chamber which draws fluid through the inlet into the cylinder chamber. During the second exhaust stroke of the piston, positive pressure builds up in the chamber which forces fluid that has been drawn into the chamber during the intake stroke to exit the chamber through the outlet.
