The video transmission system based on table lookup comprises a transmitting end and a receiving end; the transmitting end comprises a video collecting module, a transmitting end deframing module, a transmitting end SDRAM storage module, a transmitting endcomputing module, an encoding module, a frame reconstruction module and a sending module; and the receiving end comprises a receiving module, a receiving end deframing module, a decoding module, a receiving end SDRAM storage module and a receiving end computing module. The invention further discloses a video transmission method based on table lookup implemented on the basis of the system. By adoption of the video transmission system and method based on table lookup disclosed by the invention, real-time video transmission is achieved based on Huffman encoding, and the original video stream isrestored at the receiving end; and encoding in the video frame is achieved based on the Huffman code table, and the transmission bandwidth is reduced. The video transmission system and method have thefollowing advantages: (1) the original video stream is well restored; (2) the real-time video transmission is achieved; and (3) the implementation method is simple.
