Abstract

The invention discloses a polarization independent band-pass filter based on a silicon-based waveguide grating. The polarization independent band-pass filter comprises a polarization and mode converter, a grating assisted coupler and an output polarization and mode converter. An input polarization and mode converter is connected with the grating assisted coupler through a multimode waveguide, a curved gradient waveguide and a first bent waveguide. The grating assisted coupler is connected with the output polarization and mode converter through a second bent waveguide and a gradient waveguide. The band-pass filter applicable to the TE polarized light and the TM polarized light is realized by using conversion of the polarization state and the mode. The band-pass signal is enabled to be independent of the polarization state of the input light, and the polarization independent band-pass filter is realized so that the performance of the grating filter can be greatly enhanced. The band-passfilter is simple in structure, compact in size, easy to integrate and extend and convenient for low-cost manufacturing and the manufacturing process has CMOS process compatibility and thus the band-pass filter can be widely applied to the on-chip high density integration optical interconnection system.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the field of grating filters, in particular to a polarization-independent band-pass filter based on a silicon-based waveguide grating. Background technique [0002] With the rapid development of today's society, people's demand for network data volume continues to increase, so the requirement to increase the speed of communication networks has become one of the current problems that need to be solved urgently. Optical communication networks have achieved great success and are currently moving towards the goal of low cost, large capacity and high speed. Various multiplexing techniques are constantly being adopted to increase data transmission capacity. Polarization multiplexing and demultiplexing technology is one of the relatively mature technical methods. However, in polarization multiplexing systems, it is usually required that each optical device can work in TE and TM states simultaneously. [0003] As a basic functional ...
