Embodiment Construction

[0026] A driveline mount system for a vehicle typically includes a physical connection between the vehicle's driveline and a body portion of the vehicle. To maximize vibration absorption (eg, at engine idle speed and / or during wide-open throttle events), it is desirable for the driveline suspension system to have low stiffness / high displacement characteristics. However, to optimize transient response and reduce wear on components during dynamic loading, a high stiffness / short displacement characteristic is desired. In some cases, the driveline suspension system may include a bracket having a resilient member (such as a rubber stop) configured to support the driveline on the vehicle body. However, the use of such a drive train mount system results in a compromise in the performance characteristics of the drive train mount system, eg a compromise between vibration transmissibility and stiffness of the drive train mount system.

Abstract

The invention relates to a powertrain mount system for a vehicle powertrain, the system comprising: an active magnetic bearing configured to support at least a portion of the powertrain relative to abody portion of a vehicle; and a controller configured to determine an operational state of at least one of the powertrain and the vehicle and adjust the operation of the active magnetic bearing depending on the operational state of at least one of the powertrain and the vehicle.

Description

[0001] Cross application of related applications [0002] This application claims priority to Great Britain Patent Application No. 1703103.0 filed 27 February 2017. The entire content of the above application is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety for all purposes. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to driveline mount systems for vehicles, and in particular, but not exclusively, to electromagnetic suspension systems that are adjustable in response to vehicle dynamics. Background technique [0004] Vehicles typically have a driveline suspension system configured to support the vehicle's driveline relative to the vehicle body. However, the design of a drive train suspension system is complex due to the many requirements to be met. For example, driveline suspension systems are required to position and restrain the driveline, isolate vibrations from the driveline, reduce road induced loads, meet durability requirements and be lightweight.
