The method comprises steps of receiving a message and acquiring a source MAC address, a source port number and a VLANID of the message, searching a virtual port control entry according to the source port number and the VLAN ID so as to obtain a virtual port number; searching a data forwarding entry according to an MAC address, if the data forwarding entry is not found, searching the virtual port control entry according to the virtual port number, determining whether to enable virtual port-based MAC address authentication, if yes, reporting the MAC address to a CPU for MAC address authentication; and authenticating the MAC address by the CPU, and if authentication succeeds, marking the MAC address authenticated. Through adoption of the method, safe control of virtual link-based MAC address learning, aging and port drift is realized.
