Embodiment Construction

[0034] figure 1 is a view of the bottom of the motor vehicle 1 . At the front side part of the vehicle are wheels 3 , behind the wheels 3 there is a profile structure corresponding to the lower part of the front pillar 5 . Behind the wheels and in front of the pillars are located elements slightly curved towards the interior of the vehicle, which correspond to the wheel arches 7 . On this wheel arch there is a reinforcement according to the invention.

[0035] figure 2 and image 3 A stiffener 9 according to a first embodiment of the invention is shown. This reinforcement consists of several parts: a side part 9B fastened to the wheel arch 7 ; an intermediate part 9A extending transversely between the pillar 5 and the front wheel arch 7 ; and a side part 9C fastened to the front pillar 5 . The middle portion 9A is generally flat. The intermediate portion 9A may have a length between 70mm and 150mm, more preferably between 90mm and 130mm. The middle portion 9A of the re...

Abstract

The invention relates to a motor vehicle (1) comprising, on at least at one side laterally to a longitudinal axis of said vehicle: a front wheel; a generally vertical profile member, referred to as A-pillar (5), located to the rear of the front wheel; a transverse wall, referred to as wheel arch (7), adjacent to the A-pillar (5), and defining the passenger compartment of the vehicle (1); a reinforcement (9) attached to the A-pillar (5) and to the wheel arch (7), and configured to interfere with the front wheel and to limit an intrusion of said wheel into the passenger compartment in the case of a frontal crash on the portion of the vehicle (1) aligned with the front wheel; characterised in that the or each reinforcement (9) comprises a generally flat central portion (9A) extending transversely along the A-pillar (5) and the wheel arch (7).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the field of motor vehicles and, more particularly, to vehicle reinforcements for protection against frontal collisions. Background technique [0002] The bumper plays an important role in protecting the driver and front passenger in the event of a collision. Currently new low-coverage frontal crash protocols have been implemented and involve crashes on the front 25% of the vehicle. This type of crash does not allow efficient functioning of the entire bumper. In effect, these impacts cause the front wheels to rotate and pivot towards the cockpit, causing damage at the front fender and, possibly, to persons located there in the vehicle. This is why it is useful to improve passenger safety to implement complementary structures that allow avoiding or limiting rotation of the front wheels. [0003] Published patent document US2014 / 0091593A1 discloses a gusset positioned in the cockpit, behind the front pillar and the fro...
