Abstract

The invention provides optical glass for medium-numerical-aperture optical fibers. The optical glass comprises the following raw materials in percentage by weight: 55-65% of silicon dioxide, 8-15% ofboron trioxide, 0-3% of aluminum oxide, 8-15% of alkali metal oxide, 15-25% of alkaline earth metal oxide and 0-2% of calcium fluoride, wherein the weight ratio of the boron trioxide to the alkali metal oxide is 1:3-1:1. The invention further provides a preparation method and application of the optical glass. According to the optical glass prepared by the method, the refractive index of the optical glass is 1.53-1.56, and the wavelength transmittance of 300-1100 nm is more than or equal to 88%.
