Abstract

There is provided a holographic image generation system including: a spatial light modulator; a light source; a time modulator; an optical sensor and a demodulator. The spatial light modulator has pixels. The light source is configured to illuminate the spatial light modulator. The time light modulator is arranged to modulate the output intensity of the light source over time to encode holographicdata representing the hologram. The optical sensor is associated with the spatial light modulator. The optical sensor is configured to receive light from the light source and generate a signal representative of a light source output intensity. The demodulator is connected to the light sensor to receive the signal. The demodulator is arranged to decode the signal to obtain holographic data. The demodulator is also connected to the spatial light modulator to set pixels of the spatial light modulator according to the holographic data to display a hologram ready to be illuminated by the light source to form holographic reconstruction.
