Abstract

The invention provides a data backup method which is applied to a storage system, a default backup number is preset in the storage system, the default backup number is used for generating N data copies for first to-be-written data included in a first data writing request generated by a first instance, the N data copies are stored in the storage system, and N is an integer greater than 1. The method comprises the steps that adjustment setting of the default backup number is obtained, a second data writing request generated by a second instance is obtained, M data copies are generated for second to-be-written data in a storage layer of the storage system according to the adjustment setting of the default backup number, and M is a positive integer smaller than N. In this way, the number of data copies can be reduced, waste of storage resources is avoided, and the writing rate is increased.
