Problems solved by technology

Although carbon-based EDLCs can provide theoretical capacitances as high as 550 Farads / gram, this is not desirable for many practical applications, especially when compared to electrochemical batteries
Pseudocapacitors based on redox reactions of electrode materials can have up to 10 times higher capacitance than EDLCs, but their widespread applications are limited by lower power densities and poor cycle stability

Abstract

A porous interconnected corrugated carbon-based network (ICCN) composite. The porous ICCN composite is made up of a plurality of carbon layers that are interconnected and expanded apart from one another to form a plurality of pores. Metallic nanoparticles are disposed within the plurality of pores. In one embodiment, a light exposure only based method for producing the porous ICCN composite is disclosed. In another embodiment, a light exposure plus an electrodeposition method for producing the porous ICCN composite is disclosed. In yet another exemplary embodiment, a capacitor having a first electrode and a second electrode separated from the first electrode by a dielectric is disclosed, wherein at least one of the first electrode and the second electrode is formed from the porous ICCN composite.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of Chinese Patent Application No. 201580072540.3 entitled "Porous Interconnected Corrugated Carbon Network (ICCN) Composite Material" with the filing date of November 18, 2015. [0002] related application [0003] This application claims the benefit of US Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 081,237, filed November 18, 2014, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. technical field [0004] The present disclosure relates to porous interconnected corrugated carbon-based network (ICCN) composites with increased energy density and increased power density. Background technique [0005] Electrochemical capacitors offer significant advantages over conventional storage media such as batteries and capacitors, providing significantly higher energy density than conventional capacitors and exhibiting higher power and longer cycle life than batteries. Electrochemical capacitors can be divided into ...
