The method solves the problems of expensive equipment and high calculation cost required by the existing identification of the navigable ships in the bridge area, and comprises the following steps: arranging a monitoring camera at a bridge key position of a corresponding channel, collecting a channel monitoring video, and marking the channel or river bank position in the video; processing a water surface part in the monitoring image for the key frame by using a sparse representation algorithm to obtain a suspected position of the ship; confirming the suspected ship by using the trained ship discriminator; and establishing a pixel motion equation of navigable ships in the bridge area, performing ship position prediction on all frames by using the motion equation, and meanwhile, correcting the motion equation by using a ship confirmation result of a key frame, so as to detect and track the plurality of navigable ships in the bridge area.
