[0064] The present disclosure relates to an intraocular lens (IOL) whose position can be adjusted in situ. The present disclosure further relates to a method of adjusting the position of such an IOL and a system for adjusting the position of the IOL. In particular, an IOL of the present disclosure may comprise at least one haptic at least a portion of which is formed from a photoresponsive shape memory polymer network, such as a polydomain azo liquid crystal polymer network (PD-LCN). In response to a specific wavelength of laser radiation with a specific polarization, the PD-LCN will bend predictably in a given direction, allowing adjustment of the IOL position within the eye. Furthermore, the PD-LCN will maintain its shape, allowing the adjusted IOL position to be preserved. Further, PD-LCN bending and IOL position adjustment are reversible in response to different polarizations of laser radiation.
