Abstract

A method of operating an electric vehicle charging device for a vehicle-to-grid interface, the electric vehicle charging device comprising a first full-bridge converter configured to convert grid power supply into a DC link and a primary full-bridge converter configured to convert grid power supply into a DC link, the primary full bridge converter is connected to the DC link and is configured to provide an output alternating current for vehicle charging. The method comprises the steps that the charging power requirement of a vehicle is detected; determining a voltage required by the DC link to enable the converter to supply power to meet the charging power demand when operating at a full duty cycle; operating the primary full bridge converter at a full duty cycle; the voltage of the DC link is controlled to the desired voltage.
