A liquid crystal display wherein an array substrate (10) comprises a pixel electrode (3) arranged in each region demarcated by two adjacent gate wirings (1) and two adjacent source wirings (2), a switching device (5) for switching a voltage impressed from the source wiring (2) onto the pixel electrode (3) on the basis of a signal voltage input from the gate wiring (1), a common wiring (8) formed between the two adjacent gate wirings (1), a common electrode (4) electrically connected to the common electrode (8) to generate an electric field which drives the liquid crystal together with the voltage-impressed pixel electrode (3), and a storage capacitor (20a) electrically connected to the common wiring (8), and wherein the common electrode (8) and the storage capacitor electrode (20a) are so stacked as to hold at least a part of the pixel electrode (3)via insulation layers (6a, 6b).
