[0362] Composition (Wt.%)
Embodiment 1
[0363] Example 1 : Dissolve surfactant, pyroglutamic acid, pyroglutamic acid ethyl ester and metal salt complex in ethanol and about 5% water. The polymeric thickener was slowly sieved into the solution with stirring. After stirring the solution for about 2 hours, the pH was adjusted to 3.0 with acid / base. Add appropriate amount of water.
Embodiment 2
[0364] Example 2 : Add Sepigel to about 5% of water. An equal amount of ethanol was added, allowing the mixture to thicken between two ethanol additions. Add pyroglutamic acid and metal salts and allow to dissolve. Surfactants are added, pH is adjusted with acid / base, and water is added to make the product.

Abstract
The present invention relates to antimicrobial compositions that provide enhanced immediate as well as residual antiviral and antibacterial efficacy. When used, the antimicrobial composition of the present invention provides residual efficacy against Gram-negative bacteria, Gram-positive bacteria, viruses, and fungi not found in the prior art, as well as improved immediate germ reduction effects. The compositions of the present invention comprise: a) a safe and effective amount of pyroglutamic acid; b) a safe and effective amount of a metal salt; and c) a skin-acceptable carrier of the acid and salt, wherein the pH of the composition is About 1-about 7. The invention also relates to methods of using the compositions of the invention and antimicrobial products comprising the compositions of the invention.
Description
technical field [0001] The present invention relates to antimicrobial compositions that provide enhanced immediate and residual antiviral and antibacterial efficacy. In particular, the antimicrobial compositions of the present invention, when used, provide residual efficacy against Gram-negative bacteria, Gram-positive bacteria and viruses, fungi, and improved immediate reduction of pathogens not previously seen in the prior art Effect. Background of the invention [0002] Human health is affected by a variety of microorganisms. The colonization of these microorganisms in humans or mammals often leads to a variety of different disorders and diseases. Public awareness of such contamination has increased in recent years due to an increase in food poisoning, streptococcal infections, and the like. Therefore, public health authorities have advised the public to wash any areas that normally come into contact with infected surfaces such as body parts (e.g. handwashing), food (e...
