The method includes following steps: (1) plug-in package of peer-to-peer interlinkage multipoint video conferencing is activated from instant message software, and people taking part in meeting is selected; (2) coordinator of peer-to-peer body is elected among participators by using distributivity election algorithm to coordinate organizing of video conferencing and treating/controlling video/audio data; (3) using distributed Hash table and region clustering algorithm obtains list of forwarding candidates; (4) using algorithm based on hail-fellow list to construct list of forwarding candidates; (5) coordinator inserts coordinators obtained from (3) and (4) into multiple multicast trees in application layer; one multicast trees in application layer is in charge of distributing one route of video/audio coding stream. The invention makes multicast network in application layer consistent with IP layer covered network, possessing features of small time delay, large bandwidth, improving transmission quality of video/audio.
