Background technique [0001] The invention is directed to a parking aid of the type according to the independent claims. During the parking process, it is the task of the vehicle driver to estimate whether the parking space for parking his vehicle is sufficient and whether he can reliably drive his vehicle into the parking space. To facilitate this estimation, parking space measurement systems are known which serve to measure the size of a parking space, in particular between two parked vehicles. When driving past, the distance sensor first measures the first stationary obstacle, then the length of the parking space, and then the second stationary obstacle.
