This invention discloses a segmented engagement control method for a
parking pawl in an electromechanical
brake, applicable to a
system including a motor, transmission mechanism,
brake,
ratchet fixed on the
motor shaft, pawl,
electromagnet, and controller. The method first drives the motor to rotate forward until the clamping force of the
brake reaches a target value. Then, it drives the
electromagnet to eject the pawl. Next, it drives the motor to rotate in the reverse direction at a preset backlash-eliminating target speed to reduce the gap between the pawl and
ratchet, while maintaining the clamping force above a safe
lower limit. During the reverse rotation, locking contact is determined based on a combined criterion of current change rate and speed resistance. After determination, a restricted reverse drive is maintained for a preset guiding time to allow the
ratchet to slide into the tooth groove along the pawl's working surface. Then, the current is gradually reduced to near zero according to a preset unloading trajectory. When both the motor
angular velocity and current are below the threshold and remain below for a preset time, mechanical locking is determined to be complete, and the
motor drive is disengaged.
