In a preferred aspect, the porous inorganic substrate has a porosity of at least 5%, and is a porous monolith formed using a sol-gel method. The articles thus formed provide a confined fluid flow through the porous substrate, providing superior performance in separations, catalysis, filtration, and the like.

The invention provides a laser shock and supersonic vibration extrusion co-strengthening device and method. The device comprises a laser assembly, a vibration assembly, a hydraulic assembly and a connecting assembly. The method comprises steps as follows: a hole formed on sheet metal is strengthened while laser shock strengthening and supersonic vibration extrusion strengthening are adopted, a mandrel forms clearance fit with the hole to constrain the hole, so that distortion of hole and a hole angle when the laser shock is performed on the outer surface of a workpiece is prevented, and the strengthening effect of the hole wall is improved; when the laser shock is performed on the outer surface of the sheet metal, supersonic vibration is applied to the mandrel in the hole, three-dimensional pressure stress distribution is formed nearby the hole wall at certain depth under the interaction produced by laser shock waves and power ultrasound at certain frequency, amplitude and modal, and higher anti-fatigue performance and smoother inner surface of the hole are obtained. With the adoption of the device and the method, defects of a traditional strengthening technology are overcome, and the problem that the hole is strengthened through either single laser shock or single supersonic vibration extrusion is solved.

The improved sheet and post container sidewall construction of the present invention includes a post with a novel cross section that increases the rigidity of the post at a minimum thickness. The cross section of the post includes a central wall connected to lateral wings that attach to the outer protective skin of a container. The central wall is connected to the lateral wings by a connecting segment that lies inside the lateral edges of the central wall, creating a channel between the central wall and the lateral wings. This channel enables the vertical edge of a liner to be held securely in place behind the central wall. The cross section of the structural post also provides increased rigidity because the thickness of the metal of the post is doubled along a significant portion of the lateral edges of the central wall. This configuration provides increased rigidity for the post and achieves the important objective of providing smooth container walls free of recesses, potential protrusions and snag points.

Micro slit viscometer with monolithically integrated pressure sensors

An improved micro slit viscometer includes a combined micrometer depth rectangular slit flow channel with monolithically integrated multiple pressure sensors in the flow channels and a pumping system that injects a test sample to the channel at a desired flow rate. Pressure sensing diaphragm of the monolithically integrated pressure sensors is smooth to minimize the flow disturbance thereby measuring accurate local pressures. With the measurement of the pressures at various locations of the channel the true viscosity of test sample can be calculated. The viscometer may consist of multiple flow channels and thus the true viscosity at multiple shear rates can be measured simultaneously for a given flow rate thereby obtaining a full viscosity curve as a function of shear rate of non-Newtonian liquids in a much faster manner. The viscometer needs only a miniscule amount of sample, which minimizes a waste of test material. The flow channels and the monolithically integrated pressure sensors are fabricated using microfabriaction processes on wafers and combined, which greatly reduce the production costs.

The tool for injecting the cement into the top of the horizontal well screen pipe without drilling and plugging is composed of a drilling-free and plugging-free tool, a bumping pressing rubber plug and a fishing tool. During construction, the drilling-free tool is lowered to the well along with a sleeve bunch. A well mouth is pressurized, a packer is sealed through expansion, pressurization is continued, a starting piston is opened, circulation is built, and well cementation is conducted normally. The bumping pressing rubber plug is added for bumping pressing at the later stage of the well cementation, the piston is closed simultaneously, a circulation channel is closed, and the well cementation is finished. After cement curing is finished, fishing is conducted through a small drill pipe connected with a fishing anchor, the small drill pipe and the fishing anchor are lifted after being in place, slips are opened, a fishing drum is blocked, an internal structure of the drilling-free tool is lifted together, and construction is finished. During a working process, a well completion accessory used in the process is not affected by drilling and grinding, service life is greatly prolonged, diameter in a well completion pipe column is large, the inner surface of the well completion pipe column is smooth, and smooth implementation of acid washing and gravel packing is guaranteed. Well completion working time of a single well is reduced by 24 hours on average, and well completion cost is greatly saved.

The sealing surfaces of the sealing gasket and transition coupling are layered with teflon to ease assembly, improve sealing, and increase reliability for use in acid waste disposal systems.

Each core unit comprises an outer core pin to form an outer portion of the flow path and including a ramped track for slide-fit mounting of an inner slide segment which forms an inner portion of the flow path and further includes a curved inside edge to form a portion of the smoothly radiused inside turn. Initial retraction of each outer core pin from the mold cavity permits relative advancement of the inner slide segment along the ramped track toward a centerline of the flow path, sufficiently for the curved inside edge of the inner slide segment to clear the radiused inside turn of the molded elbow and thereby enable interference-free linear withdrawal of the core unit from the molded plastic part.
