Embodiment Construction

[0038] Figure 1 shows a V-engine 10 of the present invention having two cylinder banks, each comprising two cylinders (not shown) and two camshafts 100, 102 arranged in respective cylinder heads. According to the invention, each cylinder head is provided with one camshaft, but in theory more than one camshaft can be provided per cylinder head. The cylinder head is not shown in FIG. 1 in order to see the power transmission cycle elements 104 , 106 .

[0039] The casing of the V-engine 10 includes a bedplate 90 and a crankcase 94 . The crankcase 94 and the seat plate 90 are connected together along a joint surface 80 .

[0040] The V-shape formed by the cylinders is symmetrical with respect to the plane of symmetry 82 . The line of intersection along the plane of symmetry 82 and the joining plane 80 is the axis of the crankshaft 20 . The countershafts 30 , 32 are disposed on each side of the crankshaft 20 within the interface 80 . The water pump 60 is arranged above the cran...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a V-shaped engine, which includes bent shaft 20 and two groups of cylinder, each group includes at least one cylinder, each group is provided with one cylinder cover, in the cylinder cover it is provided with at least one cam shaft 100,102, and two auxiliary shaft 30, 32 which is installed at the side of the bent shaft actually. Furthermore, it is provided with one power-transmission circulating element 40, specifically is used for connecting the bent shaft 20 to the auxiliary shaft 30, 32 and the water pump 60. The additional circulating elements 50, 52 connect the auxiliary shaft 30, 32 to one of the cam shafts 100, 102.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a V-type engine with a layshaft, in particular an outboard engine for watercraft. Background technique [0002] Outboard motors for propelling ships are well known. These are generally attached to the stern of the boat with clamping screws, and are thus distinguished from inboard engines which are mounted inside the boat. It is desired that outboard motors should be able to have high performance, low weight and maximum dynamic drive characteristics, that is, the motor should respond immediately to control commands. For this reason, outboard engines for watercraft are usually designed as gasoline-burning 4-stroke or 2-stroke Otto engines. The proportion of diesel outboard motors is less than one percent. One reason for this is that a diesel engine weighs more than a gasoline engine of the same power. Heavier weight is often the result of larger stroke volumes and more complex materials. Additionally, diesel engines ...
