Abstract

A distributed medical image retrieval system based on a grid platform is designed and aims at the wide demands of medical units to the medical image retrieval,. A user submits a medical image retrieval request to a grid regional managing center through a grid portal. The domain management center matches the request with resource metadata to obtain a usable network service mask of a medical image expert database, and then sends out the request to the corresponding medical image expert database. The medical image expert database extracts the characters of the submitted image, such as the shape, the color, the texture, etc., and compares the characters with the stock medical image characters, so as to obtain a group of images which have the maximum integrated similarity degree with the submitted image. The domain management center integrates the medical images sent back by each medical image expert database, and returns to the user. The system improves the utilization efficiency of the software and the hardware of the system, reduces the entire cost required by realizing the distributed medical image retrieval system of the medical unit, and provides an effective way to widely share the medical image resources.
