Embodiment 1

[0047] A Nb rod was cast using a cylindrical mold with an inner diameter of 300 mm, and rolled under the following condition (A) or the following condition (B) until the final diameter became 14 mm.

[0048] (A) After 4-pass rolling with a rolling cross-sectional rolling device having a circular rolling cross-sectional shape, 4-pass rolling is performed with a rolling rolling cross-sectional shape having an elliptical rolling device.

[0049] (B) Rolling in 4 passes using a rolling device with a rolling cross-sectional shape.

[0050] Either of the Nb rod obtained under the above condition (A) (hereinafter referred to as "Nb rod A") and the Nb rod obtained under the above condition (B) (hereinafter referred to as "Nb rod B") In, unavoidable impurities are reduced by EB (electron beam) control of melting conditions. Specifically, control the intensity of the above-mentioned beam, the cross-sectional area of the above-mentioned beam, the output of the above-mentioned beam, th...

Embodiment 2

[0066] A Nb-7.5% by mass Ta alloy rod was cast using a cylindrical mold with an inner diameter of 300 mm, and rolled under the following condition (C) or the following condition (D), respectively, until the final diameter became 55 mm.

[0067](C) After 4-pass rolling with a rolling cross-sectional rolling device having a circular rolling cross-sectional shape, 4-pass rolling with a rolling rolling cross-sectional rolling device (Nb-based alloy bar C).

[0068] (D) 4-pass rolling (Nb-based alloy rod D) using a rolling rolling apparatus having a circular cross-sectional shape.

[0069] The Nb rod obtained under the above-mentioned condition (C) (hereinafter referred to as "Nb-based alloy rod C"), and the Nb rod obtained under the above-mentioned condition (D) (hereinafter referred to as "Nb-based alloy rod D"). ) in either one, the unavoidable impurities are reduced by controlling the melting conditions through EB. Specifically, reduce C to 20 ppm, N to 20 ppm, O to 30 ppm, an...

Abstract

Disclosed is a Nb-containing rod-shaped material which can be used in the manufacture of a Nb3Sn superconducting wire and can impart good processability to Nb or a Nb-based alloy. Also disclosed is a method for manufacture of a superconducting wire having good superconducting properties by using the Nb-containing rod-shaped material. The Nb-containing rod-shaped material can be produced by the steps of: casting a raw material for the rod-shaped material in a mold having a circular or approximately circular cross-section to produce a molded article; and performing a hot working processing or a cold working processing of the molded article into a cylindrical or approximately cylindrical shape using a processing device having a circular or approximately circular cross-section.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the production of Nb 3 A useful method of a Sn superconducting wire, and an Nb-based rod-shaped material for superconducting wire production used as a raw material in such a production method. Background technique [0002] As a field where superconducting wires are put into practical use, there is a superconducting magnet used in a high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analysis device. The higher the magnetic field generated by the superconducting magnet, the higher the resolution of the NMR analyzer. Therefore, the superconducting magnet tends to have a higher magnetic field in recent years. [0003] Nb 3 Sn wires are being put into practical use. In the Nb 3 The bronze method is mainly used in the manufacture of the Sn superconducting wire. [0004] The bronze method used in figure 1 Nb shown diagrammatically in 3 Composite material for the manufacture of Sn superconducting wires. In the composite m...
