Condenser 12 is positioned such that condenser fan 16 conveys ambient air across there in order to desuperheat, condense, and then subcool the refrigerant vapor received from compressor 11 . It is known that the condenser 12 of the subcritical cycle becomes a gas cooler for trans-critical applications in which it operates at the critical point of the refrigerant. The evaporator 14 is positioned to receive air returning from the conditioned space, possibly mixed with a portion of the fresh air, to be cooled again and used by the evaporator fan 17 to deliver the cooled air to the climate controlled environment.
