Abstract

The invention discloses a method and a system for single board I2C expansion and ID check. The system comprises a single board I2C bridge chip, an IPMC (intelligent platform management controller),a back insertion card and multiple single board daughter cards; the single board I2C bridge chip realizes bridge connection between the IPMC and the back insertion card and the multiple single board daughter cards; the IPMC initiates an ID check request to the back insertion card and the multiple single board daughter cards, receives an information pair formed by ID information and field replaceable unit (FRU) information respectively answered by the back insertion card and the multiple single board daughter cards, and checks the correctness of the FRU information in the information pair according to the ID information in each information pair; the back insertion card responds to the ID check request initiated by IPMC and sends the information pair formed by the ID information and the FRU information to the IPMC; and each of the multiple single board daughter cards is used for responding to the ID check request initiated by IPMC and sending the information pair formed by the ID information and the FRU information of the single board daughter cards to the IPMC.
