The invention discloses a method and device of network communication through IPv6 (internet protocol version 6) at an IPv4 (internet protocol version 4) application environment, and the method comprises: a bridging entity establishes a mapping relationship between an IPv4 application entity address of and an IPv6 address of the node; the bridging entity acquires the IPv6 address corresponding to an opposite terminal communication node, distributes a virtual IPv4 address for the opposite terminal communication node, and establishes a mapping relationship between the IPv6 address and virtue IPv4 address of the opposite terminal communication node; the bridging entity converts an IPv4 message sent by the IPv4 application entity through the mapping relationship of the IPv4 application entity address of the node and the IPv6 address of the node, and the mapping relationship of the IPv6 address and virtual IPv4 address of the opposite terminal communication node into an IPv6 massage and sends the IPv6 massage to an IPv6 network interface; and the IPv6 network interface forwards the IPv6 massage to the opposite terminal communication node.
