The method comprises the following steps of: cultivating a sterile line of zero type and I type fruit branches, namely hybridizing an upland cotton sterile line with a sea land mixed variety maintaining line to cultivate the sterile line of the zero type and I type fruit branches, namely the female parent; cultivating a restoring line, namely hybridizing an upland cotton variety restoring line with a sea land mixed variety to cultivate a sea land mixed restoring line, namely the male parent; and producing the seeds, namely hybridizing the sterile line of the zero type and I type fruit branches serving as the female parent with the sea land mixed restoring line serving as the male parent to produce the triple cross seeds. By the method, the seed production time is shortened from 40 days to 7 to 10 days; and the yield of the prepared hybrid seeds is increased by 20 percent compared with that of the conventional seeds. The sterility and the sterile strain ratio of the sterile line reach 100 percent; the restoring degree of the hybrid seeds reaches over 95 percent; and the restoring strain ratio reaches 100 percent. The prepared hybrid cotton seeds maintain the advantages of the upland cotton and the high greensickness resistance characteristic of sea island cotton.
