Abstract

The invention discloses a method for overcoming eastern cottonwood * populus davidiana crossing barriers. The method provided by the invention comprises the following steps of: (1) processing a stigma of a female parent according to the following steps of: (A) fumigating the pistil stigma of the female parent with volatile gas of n-hexane; and (B) smearing the pistil stigma of the female parent after the processing in the step (A) with a pollen water extraction solution of the female parent; and (2) crossing the female parent with the pistil stigma being processed in the step (1) with a poplar as a male parent to get a hybrid strain, wherein the female parent is of a populus aigeiros poplar; the male parent is of a populus leuce duby or trepidae poplar; and the pollen water extraction solution is liquid without pollen particles, which is obtained by water extraction of pollen of the female parent. According to the method provided by the invention, incompatibility in crossing between the populus aigeiros poplar and the leuce duby poplar can be effectively overcome, experiments prove that hybrid seeds obtained through the method are high in seed setting rate and good in plumpness, the germination rate of the seeds can be up to 78.2%, and a new way for getting excellent hybrid clones by distant hybridization of the poplars.
