The invention discloses a regional wind power prediction method based on spatial and temporal distribution characteristics, and the method can be used for solving the problem in the prediction of wind power of a whole region, especially the prediction of regional wind powers when the power of a single wind power plant cannot be predicted. The regional wind power prediction method aims at providing more reliable data for power grid dispatching and further improving the capability of the wind power in connection with a power system and comprises the following steps of: dividing sub regions, selecting a reference wind power plant, predicting the power of the reference wind power plant, establishing a model for predicting the wind powers of sub regions, and the like. The regional wind power prediction method based on the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics is irrelevant to prediction methods specifically adopted by wind power plants, can be combined with various wind power plant predicting models, and is stronger in versatility and engineering practicability. The prediction accuracy of regional wind power predicted by adopting the regional wind power prediction method disclosed by the invention is higher than that of the regional wind power predicted by adopting a method of simply and directly adding, and therefore, the requirements of dispatching can be better met.
