The invention discloses a data storage method and a device of a distributed storage system. The distributed storage system comprises a distributed document system, a local storage device in a local distributed document system and an external storage device externally connected with the distributed document system. The data storage method of the distributed storage system comprises the steps of monitoring whether a data storage fault of the external storage device occurs in the distributed document system or not and whether the fault is recovered or not; in case of the fault, storing the data needed to store during fault in the local storage device; and if the fault is recovered, storing the data stored in the local storage device during fault to the external storage device. With adoption of the technical scheme provided by the invention, problem of data loss caused by data storage fault of the external storage device in the distributed document system is avoided.
