Abstract

In the HID over Simple Peripheral Bus embodiment, the peripheral sensor receives input from the peripheral device, and the peripheral sensor implements the HID SPB interface to interface the peripheral device with the computing system in HID data format via the Simple Peripheral Bus (SPB). Peripheral sensors are also capable of receiving scalability data for proprietary functions of the peripheral and communicating input and scalability data from the peripheral via a simple peripheral bus in the computing system. Alternatively or in addition, peripheral sensors can generate sensor data, and the HID SPB interface interfaces the peripheral sensors with the computing system via a simple peripheral bus. The peripheral sensor is then able to communicate the sensor data and the extensibility data for the peripheral sensor's proprietary functions to the computing system in HID data format via the simple peripheral bus.
