Abstract

The invention provides a jitter buffer method of sending real-time communication event data from a transmitter to a receiver, the transmitter and a computer program product. The method comprises jointly determining (i) at least a processing parameter which describes how data is processed to be transmitted from the transmitter to the jitter buffer, and (ii) jitter buffer control information which is used to indicate how the receiver controls the state of the jitter buffer, and sending jitter buffer control information to the receiver. The data is processed according to the determined at least a processing parameter and is transmitted from the transmitter to the jitter buffer. The jitter buffer transmits processed data from the transmitter to the jitter buffer.
