A method for fault alarming of a traffic speed measuring device is characterized by including the following steps: S1 setting alarming judgment reference data which include a reference point P and a reference range gama; S2 monitoring a speed measuring system device to obtain monitoring data X of the speed measuring system device; S3 conducing judgment according to the alarming judgment reference data and the monitoring data X of the speed measuring system device, utilizing the system for fault alarming to send out alarming information for the corresponding speed measuring system device if the monitoring data X of the speed measuring system device meets a judgment standard of the alarming judgment reference data and continuing monitoring without alarming otherwise. The method for fault alarming is capable of forecasting hardware fault of the speed measuring system in advance, reduces manual inspection times, improves reliability of radar correction coefficient and provides qualitative analysis reports for threshold used by speed measuring system development personnel in the speed measuring system.
