The method for sharing the information includes receiving an IPTV program common watch request from a network television, wherein the IPTV program common watch request is used as a first social networking service (SNS) user request and for IPTV users to commonly watch an IPTV program which is currently watched by the IPTV users, the IPTV program common watch request carries first SNS user identifications and IPTV user identifications, the first SNS user identifications are the user identifications of first SNS users, and the IPTV user identifications are the user identifications of IPTV users; determining whether the IPTV users agree to watch the IPTV program together with the first SNS users according to the IPTV user identifications; and requesting a media server to send the IPTV program to SNS terminals, which are the terminals used by the first SNS users, when the IPTV users agree to watch the IPTV program together with the first SNS users. According to the method, the IPTV server and the system for sharing the information, the effect that the SNS users can watch programs, ordered in an IPTV system by the IPTV users, together with the IPTV users without the need of becoming the IPTV users through registration is achieved, and user experience is improved.
