Problems solved by technology

However, because online monitoring sensors / systems provide data with limited and narrow focus, they cannot provide a complete global assessment of the condition of the entire distribution network, including the ability of the distribution network to withstand current operating conditions and the potential of the network to reach overload conditions
[0007] Furthermore, distribution network operators are often overwhelmed with large volumes of operational data that are difficult to interpret and manage, as these data are not compiled into actionable information that can be easily interpreted by the various operational / organizational levels of the distribution facility
In addition, since these data are obtained from various configurations and models of electrical components or assets, the data needs to be integrated and processed to identify relevant information in an appropriate format to the distribution facility's operational or organizational levels (executive, management, maintenance ) is difficult to communicate with the various members (operators) who may be located in different geographical locations and are responsible for the operation, maintenance and asset management of the distribution network

Embodiment Construction

[0014] Dynamic assessment systems for high-voltage electrical components or assets are generally marked 10, such as figure 1 shown. It should be understood that the term "electrical component(s)" or "electrical asset(s)" is defined herein as one or more (i.e., a group of) electrical Components, including but not limited to transformers, circuit breakers, switches, surge absorbers, batteries, cooling systems, wiring and wiring connections, relays, or other equipment. Furthermore, while the system 10 can be used to monitor any electrical component, the following discussion is directed to the use of the system 10 to assess operational status, including the risk of failure of electrical transformers of an electrical distribution network. The system 10 is configured to continuously acquire offline operating parameter data, online operating parameter data, and other operating parameter data associated with the operation of the interrelated electrical components performed by the exp...

Abstract

A dynamic assessment system for monitoring high-voltage electrical components, which includes a computer system that is configured to receive data from a plurality of on-line sensors configured to monitor various operating parameters associated with the operation of a plurality of electrical components such as a plurality of electrical transformers. The computer system is configured to automatically and continuously correlate the data from the on-line sensors with data from various off-line databases and supervisory networks associated with monitoring the operation of the power distribution network, so as to generate dynamic operating condition assessments, including risk of failure assessments, of each of the monitored electrical components.

Description

technical field [0001] In general, the present invention relates to a high voltage component evaluation system. In particular, the present invention relates to a dynamic system for evaluating the operating conditions of high voltage electrical components based on on-line data, off-line data and operational data associated with the operation of the high-voltage electrical components. More specifically, the present invention relates to an evaluation system utilizing an expert system that dynamically generates recommended actions based on on-line data, off-line data, and operational data associated with the operation of high-voltage electrical components. Background technique [0002] The electrical components or assets making up the high voltage distribution facilities distributed in many countries have reached an average age of 30 to 40 years and are therefore approaching the end of their expected operational life. As a result of the aging process, the reliability of individ...
