Abstract

The invention discloses a rock gas content measurement device and a method for measuring a rock gas content by utilization of the device. The measurement device comprises a gas conveying pipe, and a volume metering unit. The volume metering unit comprises an enclosed pipe body filled with a liquid and a container communicated with the lower end part of the enclosed pipe body. The upper end part of the enclosed pipe body is communicated with a gas inlet pipe section in order to supply gases into the enclosed pipe body. The measurement device also comprises a power assembly for driving the containing to move up and down according to the gas pressure in the enclosed pipe body. After gases are filled into the enclosed pipe body, the power assembly drives the container to move up and down to ensure that the liquid level in the container and the liquid level in the enclosed pipe body are located in the same horizontal plane and the gas volume in the enclosed pipe body is obtained. The device can measure the gas volume directly without consideration of gas components, automatic operation is achieved and workload of measurement personnel is reduced.
