Problems solved by technology

Manual needle insertion often leads to patient disgust and poses a safety hazard
Prior art needle insertion mechanisms are often complex devices with multi-step operation requirements and are therefore not suitable for simple adapter-type ports with needles inserted into the skin, or for syringes or pens
In addition, such a spring-type insertion mechanism is inevitably too sudden, so often makes the patient feel uneasy

Embodiment Construction

[0032]FIG. 1 shows the skin insertion mechanism in a ready position, attached to the skin by the adhesive layer 1 of the skin attachment plate 2 . The needle holder 3, the spacing mechanism consisting of the connection element 4 and the blocking member 5, and the release element 6 have in this embodiment a three-fold axis of rotation; different cut planes through structural elements.

[0033] The connecting element 4 of the spacing mechanism is connected to the blocking member 5 by a hook-type mechanism 7 and engages with the needle holder by a hook-type mechanism 8 . The blocking member 5 has a preferably pin-like element 9 and holds the skin attachment plate at a sufficient distance from the needle holder 3 by an engagement mechanism 10 so that it covers the cannula 11 and such that it is prevented from coming into contact with the skin. The spacing mechanism 4 is connected to the release element 6 by means of a ridge and groove structure 12, allowing a restricted relative ...

Abstract

A skin insertion mechanism of a needle fixedly positioned in a needle holder (3) with connective means to an injection or analysis system has a skin attachment plate (2) coated with an adhesive layer and a spacer mechanism (4) keeping in the ready-to-use position the skin attachment plate (2) spaced away from the needle support covering the needle. Subcutaneous insertion of the needle is effected by attachment with the adhesive layer to the skin and releasing the spacer mechanism (4) by applying a pre-set trigger point pressure against the skin.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an injection device or diagnostic probe attached to the skin and having a subcutaneous channel through a needle inserted into the skin. More specifically, the present invention relates to patch-type ports having a needle inserted into the skin and having a connection member to a pump or an analysis system, or to a syringe-type pen. Background technique [0002] Fields of application of this type of hypodermic needle insertion mechanism are the injection of physiologically active fluids into a patient, eg by means of an insulin pump system, or the measurement of analyte levels in subcutaneous tissue. Alternatively, it can be used in combination with a syringe or pen. For these applications, it is often necessary to manually insert the needle into the skin. Manual needle insertion often results in patient disgust and poses a safety hazard. Prior art needle insertion mechanisms are often complex devices with multi-step ...
