Problems solved by technology

The research on the impact of coastal macroalgal communities on carbon sequestration and carbon cycle is still in its infancy, and there is no unified method for measuring the photosynthetic carbon fixation efficiency of macroalgal communities, and there is still a lack of a simple and easy method that can be monitored on the spot
Traditional radioisotopes (C 14 ) method is suitable for determining the carbon fixation of phytoplankton single-cell microalgae and estimating water body productivity, but not suitable for the determination of photosynthetic carbon fixation of multicellular macroalgae
However, other existing measurement methods have complicated experimental operations or processes, or require many supporting facilities and instruments and require high precision, which are more suitable for laboratory indoor measurement, and are not suitable for on-site in-situ monitoring.

Embodiment 1

[0031] Measurement of Photosynthetic Carbon Sequestration Efficiency of Macroalgae Natural Community in the Intertidal Zone of Taipingjiao Reef Coast, Qingdao

[0032] 1) Sample collection: On June 15, 2014, when the spring tide (the lowest tide was 5cm above sea level), 5 sampling points were randomly selected on the reef beach of Huiquan Bay (2 in the mid-tidal zone and 3 in the low-tidal zone), using 50 *50cm sampling square, collect all macroalgae in the sampling square.

[0033] 2) Construction of the simulated community: Clean the collected seaweed samples with seawater, wipe off the surface water of the algae, classify them according to species, weigh their wet weight, and calculate the proportion of each species in the entire community. See Table 1 for the data. According to the proportion of the natural community structure, the seaweed samples were divided into 6 equal parts to form a new simulated community system.

Abstract

The invention provides a method for testing carbon fixation efficiency of a macroalgae community. The method comprises the steps that macroalgae collected in the field are classified according to species, and the ratios of the various macroalgae in the whole community are tested; according to the structure ratio of the community, a sample set of the macroalgae which are cleaned completely is divided into equal groups to form a simulated community system, and then the carbon fixation efficiency is tested. The novel method for testing the photosynthetic carbon fixation efficiency of the macroalgae community is more easy and convenient to implement and easy to operate. The method can be applied to monitoring of the photosynthetic carbon fixation capacity of the macroalgae community in the natural habitat, and provides theory and experiment basis for learning about the contribution of macroalgae on carbon sink and carbon circulation. Accordingly, the method has good scientific research and application value.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention belongs to the technical field of photosynthetic carbon fixation monitoring, and in particular relates to a method for measuring photosynthetic carbon fixation efficiency of large seaweed communities. Background technique [0002] The photosynthetic carbon fixation of seaweed is not only the basis of primary productivity in the ocean, but also an important biological mechanism to promote the carbon cycle of seawater and reduce the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The research on the impact of coastal macroalgae communities on carbon sequestration and carbon cycle is still in its infancy. At present, there is no unified method for measuring the photosynthetic carbon fixation efficiency of macroalgal communities, and there is still a lack of a simple and easy method that can be monitored on the spot. Traditional radioisotopes (C 14 ) method is suitable for determining the carbon fixation of phytoplankton single-cell microal...
