Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for location determination in a wireless communication network. A client device with an installed location provider is configured to provide location data to the data engine server and obtain location services from the location engine server or the location provider itself. A location provider based on one or more components implements the reference data transfer function and the client location determination function. The data engine server is configured to process location data received from one or more client devices and maintain a location database. A data engine server based on one or more components implements a reference data acquisition function, a site location calculation function, a reference data management function, and an auxiliary data delivery function when it interacts with a client device. The location engine server is configured to process location requests received from one or more client devices and calculate the location of the client devices. A location engine server based on one or more components implements location data acquisition functions and device location calculation functions as it interacts with client devices. The location database stores previously obtained location data.
