Abstract

In one embodiment, a method for manufacturing a fluid storage tank assembly for an off-road vehicle includes disposing a support ring (62) within a cavity of a rotational mold, in which the cavity is shaped to form a fill spout (52) of the fluid storage tank assembly. The method further includes flowing a liquid polymeric material (64) within the rotational mold such that the liquid polymeric material enters the cavity, directly contacts the support ring (62), and bonds to the support ring (62) as the liquid polymeric material (64) hardens.

Background technique [0002] Certain off-road vehicles are powered by a diesel engine that produces exhaust. Exhaust gases may include undesirable by-products such as nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide, and particulate material. To reduce emissions of these by-products, vehicle exhaust systems may inject DEF from a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank, such as a fluid storage tank, into the exhaust stream. Due to the larger size of some off-road vehicles (eg tractors) using DEF, a hose can be connected to the first filling nozzle on the DEF tank in order to allow the tank to be filled more easily.
