Embodiment Construction

[0018] figure 1 A charging cable for an electric vehicle is shown, which has a current conductor L1 and a neutral conductor N. In addition, a protective conductor PE is provided. The electrical power is transmitted from the grid via the charging cable to the electric vehicle via the plug connector. In order to detect the temperature in the plug connector at the end of the charging cable, a temperature sensor 5, 6 is mounted on the conductor end in the plug connector, which detects the temperature in the conductor L1 and the neutral conductor N . The temperature sensors 5 , 6 can here be formed either capacitively by means of a variable capacitor 5 a or inductively by means of a variable inductance 6 a. The variable capacitance 5 a and the variable inductance 6 a are temperature dependent, so that a change in temperature causes a change in capacitance or inductance. The charging cable also has a so-called on-cable control box 1 for safety and communication functions. The u...

Abstract

The invention relates to a device for detecting the temperature in a current conductor (L1,N) by means of at least one temperature sensor (5,6), and the temperature sensor sends signals, wherein the frequencies of the signals change along with the temperature change. The device is characterized in that the signals of the temperature sensor (5,6) are transmitted by the current conductor (L1,N); and moreover, the signals are coupled to an analyzing and processing device (2) from the current conductor (L1,N) through a coupling element (4,8) in an inductance type or capacitance type so as to detect the temperature.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a device for detecting the temperature in a current conductor by means of at least one temperature sensor which outputs a signal whose frequency changes due to the temperature change. Background technique [0002] In current conductors and plug connectors that have to transmit high electrical power, heating can occur during operation. This heating must not exceed the permissible maximum temperature, since otherwise there would be a danger to the environment or damage to the conductors and the plug connectors. The power transmission must therefore be interrupted if an impermissible temperature is exceeded by actuating corresponding switches and disconnecting the cable from the grid. Such a situation often arises when the battery is being charged, especially in electric vehicles. In order to keep the charging time in electric vehicles as short as possible, very high electrical powers are transmitted, which leads to a correspond...
