Abstract

The present invention relates to a current sensor. The test current (1a) is injected into the conductor (2) via a pair of force terminals (5I, 5O). Receive an input signal via a pair of sensing terminals (6ih, 6il). The input signal corresponds to a voltage drop across the conductor (2). Based on the input signal, the contribution of the voltage drop caused by the test current is determined. A reference resistance of a conductor (2) is determined with at least one of the primary current (1) in the conductor (2).

Description

technical field [0001] Various embodiments relate to systems, devices, and methods. In particular, various embodiments relate to techniques for determining at least one of a reference resistance of a conductor and a primary current flowing in the conductor. Background technique [0002] Traditional current sensors use shunts. A shunt is typically a low-ohm resistor of the order of 1 milliohm (mohm) or less; the shunt has a well-defined resistance such that, via Ohm's law, the current flowing through the shunt can be measured with high accuracy. Typically, shunts can be made from special alloy compositions with zero temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR). More recently, pure copper or aluminum shunts are still in use - here a temperature sensor is attached to the shunt which measures the temperature of the shunt and takes into account the nominal TCR. [0003] However, current sensors employing dedicated shunts face certain limitations and disadvantages. For example,...
