The total saponins in radix polygalae can be applied to preparation of an anti-aging product or a product for enhancing the immunity function. As proved by researches on the anti-aging effect, compared with a model set, the total saponins in radix polygalae have the advantages that thymus indexes and spleen indexes of the total saponins in radix polygalae in a high dosage set and a middle dosage set are lowered remarkably; the CAT activity of serum is increased remarkably; the SOD activity of the low dosage set is increased remarkably; the differences between the MDA levels and the SOD activities of brain tissues in the high dosage set, the middle dosage set and the low dosage set have statistical significance. Compared with the model set, the differences between the MDA content and the SOD activities of the brain tissues in the high dosage set, the middle dosage set and the low dosage set have statistical significance.
