Embodiment Construction

[0044] refer to figure 2 , the device for acquiring a fingerprint comprises an image array sensor 1 configured to acquire at least one image of a fingerprint of a finger 2 when said finger 2 is presented to said sensor in its acquisition area. The array sensor 1 comprises a body of semiconductor material 3 on which an array of active pixels 4 is formed.

[0045] Sensor 1 is a logarithmic sensor. Each of the pixels of the array of active pixels 4 comprises at least one photodiode 5 and is configured to operate in a solar cell mode. Thus, the photodiode 5 is configured to exhibit a logarithmic voltage response with respect to the illumination of said pixel. Typically, the image array sensor 1 is a CMOS sensor. Metal interconnectors 6 ensure electrical connection between photodiodes 5 . Here, these metal interconnectors 6 are shown in a configuration in which they are in front of the photodiodes 5 , ie in their acquisition area, between the finger 2 and said photodiodes 5 . ...

Abstract

The invention relates to a device for acquiring digital fingerprints which includes an image matrix sensor (1), said sensor being configured such as to acquire at least one image of the digital fingerprints of a finger (2) when said finger (2) is presented to said sensor in the acquisition field thereof, wherein the matrix sensor includes a body made of a semiconducting material (3) in which a matrix of active pixels (4) is formed, the pixels of said matrix of active pixels each including at least one photodiode (5) and being configured such as to operate in solar cell mode.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an apparatus for acquiring fingerprints including an image array sensor, and more particularly, to a portable electronic device provided with the apparatus for acquiring fingerprints. Background technique [0002] Many portable electronic devices offer the possibility to access digital resources. This is especially the case with intelligent mobile telephones of the so-called "smartphone" type. Certain data of these digital resources are confidential and access to them must be ensured. The first type of access protection historically used in telephones was information requiring a four-digit personal identification number (better known for "Personal Identification Number" by the acronym PIN). However, this type of protection has proven to be easily circumvented and suitable for user applications, especially since effective protection requires the number to be entered during each session to use the phone. Therefore, oth...
