The method comprises the following steps of S1, acquiring an infrared polarization image based on a target detection visual task, establishing an image definition evaluation model based on a human eye contrast sensitivity function and a perception contrast model, and calculating the image definition of a to-be-evaluated image; S2, selecting a target neighborhood and calculating the contrast based on the target neighborhood; S3, linearly combining the image definition with the contrast based on the target neighborhood, establishing a image sensing quality model and objectively evaluating the quality of the image. According to the invention, the image sensing quality model of the infrared polarization image is good in consistency with the subjective feeling of human eyes based on the visual characteristics of human eyes.
