The invention relates to application of a Qu fructus aurantii extract in the preparation of traditional Chinese medicine preparations or functional foods for preventing and treating respiratory tractinflammation. The preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) fetching crushed Qu fructus aurantii particles, adding the particles into deionized water, soaking, distilling a soaking solution, and collecting fraction; (2) carrying out heating reflux on decoction dregs twice, filtering twice, combining two types of filtrate, and carrying out reduced pressure concentration, so as to obtaina concentrated solution; and (3) combining the concentration solution with the fraction, so as to obtain the Qu fructus aurantii extract.
