Abstract

The invention provides a wireless-signal-based method for monitoring dangerous rocks, wherein the method is applied to dangerous rock monitoring in the field of geological disaster prevention and control. The dangerous rock states include a stable state and a collapsed state. The collapsed state is characterized by rockfall. The conversion from the stable state to the collapsed state is a progressive and observable process. According to the method, a current state of dangerous rock is determined by measuring a WIFI wireless signal; an RSS value of a WIFI wireless transmission signal varies within a specific range in a stable dangerous rock state; and an RSS value characteristic of the WIFI signal in the stable dangerous rock state is calculated based on lots of monitoring data. When the state of the dangerous rock becomes unstable and rocks start to fall down, the collected RSS value of the WIFI signal changes a lot relative to the daily collected value, so that the stable dangerous rock state is determined.
