Abstract

The invention discloses a method and a device for measuring the refractive index of gas. The method comprises the following steps: inflating gas to be measured into a gas measuring pool; enabling a light frequency comb to enter a first photoelectric detector after going through the gas measuring pool; measuring an electrical signal output by the first photoelectric detector by the frequency spectrograph and collecting the measuring result of a frequency spectrograph; and calculating the refractive index of gas to be measured, wherein the formula of refractive index is as shown in the specification, c is velocity of light, delta f is the frequency space between every two adjacent wave crests or wave hollows of the electric signal obtained by the frequency spectrograph, and d is the length of light in the gas measuring pool passing through the gas to be measured. The measurement of the refractive index of gas is realized by using the light frequency comb, the information of refractive index is converted onto a microwave signal through a phase position, the measurement of the refractive index of gas to be measured is realized by adopting a mature microwave instrument, and compared with optical measurement means, the method has the characteristics of measurement sensitivity adjustability, system stability and the like.
