[0063] Electron beam irradiation was used to crosslink the adhesive. The light guide film uses ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) (eg, extrudable ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin Elvax 3175 or Elvax 3180 produced by DuPont, Wilmington, Delaware, USA) as an adhesive. The adhesive was exposed to an electron beam processor at 120 kV, 7.5 Mrad, and a line speed of 200 feet per minute. Lamination tests showed that with the treated light directing film, there was little displacement. Gel content was used as a measure for crosslinking effectiveness according to ASTM D2765-01 "Standard Test Method for Gel Content and Swelling of Crosslinked Ethylene Plastics". Six replicates with cross-linked adhesive and six replicates with non-cross-linked adhesive were tested. Table 1 lists the gel content results.
